Jumping Back on the Wagon...

Hey everybody, long time no see, huh? I don’t have any real excuse, as usual, I just got into a rut and got really lazy for a bit. I’m trying to pull myself out of it though, and part of that will be an effort to make a blog post at least once a week. We’ll see if I can actually do it this time.

Just a short post this time around, to get things going but to keep it light. I’m starting to work on my novel again, the one I started during NaNoWriMo 2006 and then haven’t touched since. I’ve been reading it over and thinking a lot about where I want it to go, and I’ve decided that what I have is a decent (though unfinished) draft #0. I’m in the process of sketching out a revised story line, including a slightly slimmer character list, in the hopes of getting a more focused and deeper story. If anyone out there has actually slogged through what I’ve already written, and has any ideas or advice, please feel free to shoot me a message using the form on the contact page.

I’m also looking into restarting my defunct web comic, Life of Convenience. I never intended to let it drop, I just kind of did. In the, what, two years (!) since I’ve updated it I’ve been thinking a lot about doing more, but never got around to it. I’m getting the feeling that if I don’t do it now, I never will, and I really enjoy cartooning. I’m taking my time with it though, because I want to do something better, and a bit more meaningful, this time around.

Here’s hoping. And finally, I really do plan on doing some more episodes of my podcast The Accidental Nerd. I didn’t like what I was doing before, but I love the idea of it, and I think it’ll work if I can just find the right angle to tackle it from.

Side Note: That last sentence was not grammatically incorrect. This probably seems out of the blue, but I’ve had a few disagreements with people about whether or not it’s correct to end a sentence with a preposition. It is, so long os the subject of that preposition also appears in the sentence, as with the sentence above. Go ahead and look it up, I have. It’s what I do.

To further prove what a flaming nerd I am, I just saw this shirt (available at Veer.com) and laughed out loud:

If you don’t get it, it’s a typesetting thing. Trust me, it’s funny.

P.S.: I’m aware that the archives, and the search function, aren’t working quite right at the moment. I’m note quite sure what’s wrong, but I’m working on it. Also, I obviously changed the site’s look again (but none of the guts, thankfully), what do you think?

Man, you change this layout more than most people change pants!

:)

Good luck on your goal of more frequent blogging.

That kerning shirt made me laugh too. :D

Also, I think you want the word "defunct", not "defunked". :D

Also also, I totally know that blurb about prepositional phrases was in there for me. :P

"Defunct", of course. Thanks Brian, I knew that didn't look right. As for the prepositional phrases thing, when I reread that paragraph my first thought was "either Brian or Mup is going to jump on me for that."

I've actually had that disagreement with a few others, but I think you're the only one so far who's said (basically), "I don't care, I like it my way". :)
